Summative project: Short research proposal

A research proposal will:

• Clearly define the topic in which you are interested in
• Show your analysis of your research area
• Show you have started to analyse and developed an original
• Demonstrate you understand how to conduct research
• it must be well-structured
• Include bibliography and in-text referencing

All the element of research proposal(3000 words) submitted assessment in semester 1 and this would be carried over to used in summative assessment in the semester 2.

This needs to be properly defined and clearly written. It may well contain phrases such as: “An investigation into...”

“A critical analysis of...”

“An investigation to establish the impact of...”

“A comparison between...”

A) Introduction

• Introduce the area of research and give a brief summary of the main points & conclusion of the proposal.

B) Theoretical background and research focus

• Review key publication and the theme
• Include hypotheses
• Your aims and objectives with the research questions(approx. 1000-1200)

C) Justification and contextualization

• Why is your research important?
• Why is it vital to find what you are trying to find?
• Is it timely? Does it responds to an existing need? What makes it so?(approx. 600 words)

D) Methodology

How will you achieve the aim of the research? Give the proposed research methodology which will be going to include research paradigm, methodological approach, methods, techniques, sample size, target populations, data analysis and equipment. Explain  why it is vital to effectively answer the research questions. Have you considered any alternatives?

The methodology section should also include a brief access and ethics section, which discuss what you consider to be he ethical implications of the given work. It should be also define how you will gain access to the research field and how you will find the information which is needed. This will also comprise with the limitations sections. Are there any limitations or downsides of the given research strategy? How are they counterweighting the benefits.
